The values that guide our community include: Gender-Affirming: We embrace, and celebrate each child’s gender identity, supporting their self-expression without judgment. Inclusion: We welcome and honor every child's unique needs and strengths. Respect for Autonomy: We prioritize each child's autonomy and respect their ability to lead and engage in play at their own pace. Emotional Support: We recognize the importance of emotional regulation and create a safe space for all feelings to be expressed without judgment. We honor and accommodate the unique needs of every child by: Honoring and supporting all communication styles. Recognizing and supporting sensory needs. Allowing time for processing and response. Validating emotional and neurophysiological experiences. Supporting safe self-regulation skills, including stimming. Encouraging self-advocacy skills and reframing expectations. Validating differences and respecting autonomy. We Do NOT Support Changing a child to appear neurotypical or "normal." Promoting masking, loss of autonomy, or loss of personal agency. Dismissing or minimizing experiences. Eliminating stimming behaviors. Behavioral management through rewards or punishments. Normative standards or age comparisons. We ask that families who join our playgroup share these values to ensure a positive and supportive experience for all. This group supports all children with neurodiveristy-affirming practices.
