Independent Educational Evaluation Provider
About the Role
We’re seeking contract Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants to support comprehensive school-based Independent Educational Evaluations with a focus on each child’s unique strengths and support needs. This hybrid position combines remote work, including summarizing records, contributing to report data, and collaborating with the team, with in-person school-based observations and activity-based assessments. COTAs will work under the supervision of a licensed OT to gather information that informs evaluation findings and recommendations.
Responsibilities
Review records and summarize findings
Conduct school observations and activity-based assessments
Participate in interviews with caregivers and school providers
Assist with standardized and non-standardized assessments
Collaborate closely with a supportive, multidisciplinary team
Qualifications
Licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in California
Experience in pediatric and/or school-based settings
Strong understanding of sensory processing, motor development, and educational access
Familiarity with neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approaches
Excellent written communication, time management, and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively under the supervision of a licensed OT

Pay Rate
We offer a tiered flat-rate model based on clinicians’ experience and support needs, designed to help each OT grow toward fully independent IEE work over time. Training, mentorship, and editorial support are integrated into each tier.
Tier 1: $650
For clinicians new to the IEE process who require close training, guidance, and support.Tier 2: $800
For clinicians with moderate experience who manage many aspects independently but benefit from consultation and case review.Tier 3: $1,150
For experienced clinicians who complete high-quality IEE elements with minimal support.
Rates may increase slightly based on travel requirements or case complexity.
Expected time per contract ranges from 15-20 hours, depending on the complexity of the IEE and the work pace of the COTA.
